Ropemaker Place (spec: Hot Melt / Green Roof)
At Rock, we pride ourselves on helping our partners create more environmentally responsible buildings. Designed by Arup Associates, Ropemaker Place intends to be not only one of the City of London's most attractive structures, but also one of its most sustainable. The building has over 50,000 sq ft of planted roof terraces, each with a unique planting design that increases biodiversity and encourages bees, other insects and birds.
Working with our partners on this exciting scheme, Rock has designed and installed inverted roof waterproofing, comprised of a PermaTEC hot melt membrane, roof barriers and insulation layers. At different levels can be found various features supplied by Rock. These include elements such as BMU plinths capped with a polyester powder coating, upstands installed to receive our waterproofing, paving slabs and stone ballast, cladding panels, secondary steel, flashing and cappings. We produced fire rated doors to Levels 21 and 22, plus timber frame works and single ply coverings to the riser openings at Level 21.
Rock is delighted to have been involved in Ropemaker Place, which has been constructed to emit 33% lower carbon emissions than required by Building Regulations and has been awarded a BREEAM rating of "Excellent".
