Park House, Oxford Street (spec: Hot Melt)
Rock is delighted to have selected by main contractor Mace for a project of real magnitude on one of the world’s most famous streets. Park House will occupy an entire city block on Oxford Street, totalling almost half a hectare, with completion planned for November 2012.
Designed by Hamiltons Architects, the bold design and dramatic curves of the glass exterior present a considerable challenge for Rock, as we shall be responsible for the roof's stone render work and GRP (glass-reinforced plastic). We will be working closely with main contractor Mace and our other partners to solve the logistics of working in such a busy central location, with access to site on just one elevation.
By taking on all roof-based waterproofing and associated trades, Rock will help eliminate the usual trade/contractor interfaces to ensure that the design detail is absolutely impeccable. After all, one of the most striking features of Park House is its huge curved glass roof which will enclose 100,000 sq ft of retail accommodation, 165,000 sq ft of office space as well as 39 high quality apartments.
