One Sixty, Great Portland Street (spec: Mastic Asphalt)

160 Great Portland Street is a landmark office building which, until recently, was solely occupied by a division of Virgin Media. Substantially redeveloped during the 1990s, only the exterior facades of the 8-storey building were retained. Now rebranded 'One Sixty', the building has a pre-let agreement with Oscar and BAFTA-winning visual effects company Double Negative. But much work is to be done before the new tenant can take up residence.

What this means for Rock is that the roof must be fully refurbished so that it may accommodate a much larger and more advanced M&E system. This is because the power input required by Double Negative is significantly greater than that of the previous occupants. Our work involves upgrading the roof insulation and employing recycled ballast and paving slabs in readiness for the new system.

For this work Rock have been appointed by Como, the specialist fit out contractor arm of Mace. Our involvement is part of Como's programme to completely refurbish the headquarters offices, scheduled to be ready for occupation by May 2012.
