Eton Manor, 2012 Olympic Park (spec: Hot Melt)
With the London 2012 Olympic Games drawing ever-nearer, construction work around Stratford continues apace. Rock has recently been appointed by main contractor Mansell to bring our waterproofing expertise to Eton Manor in the northern section of the Olympic Park. These new sporting facilities are to be built on the grounds of the old Eton Manor Sports Club, disused since 2001 and now cleared in readiness for a fresh chapter in the history of Eton Manor.
During the Olympic Games, Eton Manor will be the site of temporary training pools for participants in aquatics events. Three 50m pools will serve swimmers, alongside smaller pools designed for the training of synchronised swimmers and water polo players. It will then host wheelchair tennis during the Paralympic Games and remain a training facility for aquatics competitors. There will be nine competition courts and four warm-up courts. The total of 10,500 seats for spectators will include a 5,000-capacity show court.
Rock is delighted to be involved in what is presently the biggest and most high-profile construction site in the UK. As the Olympic Park rapidly takes shape it has captured the imagination of sports fans of all ages. We look forward not only to the Games themselves, but to the future of Eton Manor as it serves communities in London for many years beyond 2012.
