Cannon Place (spec: Hot Melt)

Rock are currently working with Laing O'Rourke on the construction of Cannon Place, a stylish mixed use development in the heart of London's financial district. The scheme comprises 37,000 sq m of office space plus 1,600 sq m of retail accommodation, and includes a major renovation and modernisation of the London Underground ticket hall at Cannon Street station.

The building has been designed to BREEAM guidelines and aims to achieve a 'Very Good' rating. Rock were awarded the project because Laing knew we would be able to safely deliver a hot melt surface and high quality green roof which would minimise rainwater run off and provide feeding for local birdlife. But Rock also has a reputation for having the willingness and ability to tackle even the most formidable challenges. It was clear from the start that Cannon Place, with its cantilevered structure designed by Foggo Associates, would be a highly complex project. Unlike the redevelopment of nearby Blackfriars, Cannon Street station was to remain open as normal throughout. But Rock's skill in managing and liaising with our partners has proved successful for the renewal of one the capital's busiest transport interchanges.
