5 Hanover Square, Mayfair (spec: Green Roof/Hot Melt)
Hot on the heels of Park House, Oxford Street, main contractor Mace has selected Rock to partner them once more on another of this year's most significant building projects in London's West End.
Surrounded by listed buildings in the Mayfair Conservation Area, the new 13 million GBP mixed-use scheme at 5 Hanover Square is being developed by Stanhope. The Japan Airlines building that once stood on the site has now been demolished to make way for a design by architects Squire & Partners which incorporates a 67,000 sq ft luxury office scheme, five boutique residential apartments and retail space at ground level.
With its multiple complex finishes, this is a project that calls for the breadth of skills, innovation and craftsmanship that only Rock can deliver. As well as ensuring that the building is fully waterproofed, we have been asked to design and install both a green roof and a green wall, where plants are grown vertically in a unique, modular hydroponic system that is integrated with offsite monitoring technology. As part of our package we have also installed abseil points for occasional maintenance requirements.
Rock has designed these attractive features for precise low water usage and low maintenance, as Stanhope is looking to achieve a BREEAM "Excellent" rating and a Code for Sustainable Homes Level Four.
